I see this very differently in my family. They do lose weight. Getting them to eat is difficult. But a Mediterranean diet does nothing to prevent it.
The person in my family who has Alzheimer's right now lived on this diet her entire life. Because she was from there and this is what she cooked. She also exercised daily and still does, she avoided sugar, she is very healthy in body, but not in mind.
We are missing the big picture on this. We are missing it in everything these days because our society has taken it away so we could be more easily manipulated by focusing on the details. We have lost holistic everything.
Everyone in my life (blood related or not) who developed Alzheimer's also had undiagnosed ADHD.
They never addressed this and in many cases became the worst version of themselves. They denied entire parts of themselves due to shame. As they aged this denial seemed to spread to every part of their cognition. It's as if by denying parts of themselves they infected the whole with that denial of their intelligence. They accepted the brain washing, they lived other people's truths. They did not question realities that were very questionable. They didn't seek their own. They were very smart and they gave it up to exist in the box society gave them.
We need to see that exercising only thd cognitive and not on our somatic intelligence is a part of the issue.
ADHD is big picture thinking
It is somatic giftedness. But our society has not valued this type of giftedness.
These people did not get to use their full intelligence. In an unexercised body plaque builds up. In an unexercised mind plaque builds up.
I am so tired of the lies around intelligence and the way we make people deny huge parts of themselves. There is a cost for this. Some show it in body. Some show it in mind. Some show it in both. Alzheimers is part of showing it in the mind.
