No we are absolutely taught to bottle our emotions up by our culture and systems.

We live in a system set up to serve psychopathy. It is not set up to serve anyone else. Psychopath is the lack of emotions. It likes to live in cities, it likes competition, its need a lot of stimulation because it has low body sensitivity and it can't see the future because emotion are what we use to see the big picture.

Which is why soon our oceans will be boiling because we have allowed psychopathy the chance to put profits over people. Psychopathy serves itself and no one else. We are all party to this because we are taught out of our emotions.

Those who have emotions need to use them. They are your big picture and the more somatically gifted you are the more bottling up and pushing down your emotions will destroy you.
